Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers to the questions we’re asked most. If yours isn’t here — or it’s about a specific vehicle — give us a call.

Vehicle remapping

What is vehicle remapping?

Your engine control unit (ECU) runs software that manages things like fuelling, boost pressure and ignition timing. Manufacturers often calibrate that software conservatively to suit many markets, fuels and driving conditions. Remapping adjusts the calibration to suit your specific vehicle and how you use it — usually to improve power delivery, torque and drivability.

Is remapping suitable for every vehicle?

No. Suitability depends on the make, model and engine, the software already on the ECU, the vehicle’s mileage and mechanical condition, and any existing modifications. We’ll ask about your vehicle first and tell you honestly if a remap isn’t a good idea.

Can remapping improve fuel economy?

It can, particularly on some diesel engines, because extra torque lower down can mean less throttle and fewer gear changes for the same journey. It isn’t guaranteed — real-world economy depends on the vehicle, the calibration, fuel quality and, above all, how the vehicle is driven.

Will a remap affect my insurance or warranty?

A remap is a modification, so you should tell your insurer before it’s carried out. If your vehicle is under a manufacturer or extended warranty, check the terms first, as modifications can affect cover. We’re happy to talk this through before you decide.

Do you offer trade remapping for garages?

Yes. We work with garages and motor traders as well as private owners, and trade rates are available. See garages & trade or call 07714 508420.

Servicing & mobile service

Do you offer vehicle servicing and repairs?

Yes. We carry out servicing and mechanical repairs, either at our workshop or — where the job allows — at your home or place of work. Tell us about your vehicle and what you need and we’ll confirm the best option.

Can you come to my location?

Yes, we offer a mobile service. Many servicing, diagnostic and repair jobs can be done on your drive or at work; some need workshop equipment. Call 07714 508420 with your postcode and the job, and we’ll let you know.

How do I book a service?

Use the booking form or call 07714 508420. Booking is enquiry-based: we’ll get back to you to confirm the work, the timing and the price before anything goes ahead.

Diagnostics & DPF

Can I arrange a diagnostic check?

Yes. We use dealer-level diagnostic equipment to read fault codes and live data, then investigate the cause. Booking a diagnostic check is the right first step if you have a warning light or a fault you can’t pin down.

Will a diagnostic check find the fault straight away?

Fault codes point us in the right direction, but they don’t always identify the failed part on their own. Some faults — especially intermittent ones — need further testing. We’ll explain what we’ve found and what the next step is before going further.

My DPF warning light is on. What should I do?

Check your handbook first — some vehicles ask for a sustained drive to allow a regeneration. If the light stays on, returns quickly, or the vehicle goes into reduced power, get it checked. Continuing to drive with a blocked DPF can lead to more expensive problems. See our DPF cleaning page.

Vehicle recovery

Do you offer vehicle recovery?

Yes. Our recovery service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 07714 508420 and tell us where you are, what vehicle you have and what’s happened.

How much does recovery cost?

It depends on the vehicle, where it is and where it needs to go. Call us with those details and we’ll quote for your situation.

Selling your vehicle

Do you buy used vehicles?

Yes — any make, any model. Send us your vehicle’s details using the We Buy Cars form or call 07714 508420. We’ll talk you through an offer and, if you accept, arrange payment and collection.

Do you buy cars that don’t run or need work?

Yes, we’re happy to look at vehicles in any condition. Tell us honestly about any faults, damage or warning lights so the offer reflects the vehicle.

What do I need to sell my car?

Usually the V5C logbook, all keys, and any service history you have. If there’s outstanding finance, let us know at the start — it will need to be settled as part of the sale.
