Coding & programming

Modern vehicles run on software. We speak its language.

Coding, configuration and programming of vehicle control modules after repairs, part replacement and retrofits — carried out with dealer-level equipment.

Why coding matters

Fitting the part is only half the job

Today’s vehicles are networks of control modules that share information constantly. Replace a component, add a feature or change a setting, and the vehicle often needs to be told about it before everything works as it should.

That’s where coding and programming come in. Using dealer-level equipment we can configure modules, register replacement components where the vehicle requires it, and adapt settings — so the work on your vehicle is properly finished, not left with warning lights or features that don’t respond.

Typical situations

When coding is needed

Exactly what’s possible depends on the make, model and year — always check with us first.

After part replacement

Some replacement components need registering or adapting to the vehicle before they work correctly.

Retrofits

Adding equipment that wasn’t fitted at the factory often requires modules to be configured to recognise it.

Feature settings

Adjusting how certain vehicle functions behave, where the manufacturer’s software allows it.

Persistent warnings

Messages or lights that remain after a repair can sometimes be down to a module that hasn’t been coded.

Check before you book. Not every vehicle supports every function, and some are restricted by the manufacturer. Send us the make, model, year and what you’d like to achieve, and we’ll confirm what’s possible.

The process

How it works

  1. Tell us the goal

Your vehicle details and what you need coded, programmed or changed.

  2. Confirm compatibility

We check whether the vehicle and our equipment support it before you book.

  3. Code & configure

We connect with dealer-level equipment and carry out the work.

  4. Test & check

We confirm the function works and check for any stored faults.

Questions

Coding questions

If your question is about a specific vehicle, the quickest answer is usually a call.

What is vehicle coding?

Coding tells a vehicle’s control modules how they should behave and which components and features are fitted. When a part is replaced, a feature is added or a setting needs changing, the relevant module often has to be coded so everything works together correctly.

Why does a new part need coding?

On many modern vehicles, replacement parts must be registered or adapted to the vehicle before they work properly. Without coding you may see warning lights, error messages or features that don’t function.

Can you code any vehicle?

Not every vehicle supports every change, and some functions are restricted by the manufacturer. Tell us the make, model and year along with what you want to do, and we’ll confirm whether it’s possible before you book.
